Land Of Confusion

All the issues and troubles facing the country have been communicated to us by various artists while back. Phil Collins in 80s wrote and sang the " Land Of Confusion". Here we are now:

I must have dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
They're moving into the street

Now, did you read the news today?
They say the danger has gone away
But I can see the fire's still alight
They're burning into the night

There's too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And there's not much love to go around
Can't you see this is a land of confusion?

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in

Oh, superman, where are you now?
When everything's gone wrong somehow?
The men of steel, these men of power
Are losing control by the hour

This is the time, this is the place
So we look for the future
But there's not much love to go around
Tell me why this is a land of confusion

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in

I remember long ago
When the sun was shining
And all the stars were bright all through the night
In the wake of this madness, as I held you tight
So long ago

I won't be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We're not just making promises
That we know we'll never keep

There's too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And there's not much love to go round
Can't you see this is a land of confusion?

Now, this is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for

This is the world we live in
And these are the names we're given
Stand up and let's start showing
Just where our lives are going to

  1. What people need as a viable option is NOT the tea party, it's the ALPO PARTY, but unfortunately alpo party won't be in the menu, heheeeeee!

  2. Based on what I stored in my tree stump some time ago and have been dipping into I am still on the side of alpo, although my store is getting rancid - but these are the things we work through. On 8/8 I posted my model expectation of a downtrend from SPY 113 and reversal at SPX 1050 to return to the previous high, which played out. There was a messy shakeout bottom that incapsulated SPX 1040, so be it. There were definitely some great trades there especially on anything on the brink, including financials and the tech sector lag (usually leads) of semi. Once again we are at what I consider a SPX topping range of distribution rather than another leg up. Even on a breakout over the previous consolidation SPX range, I would not chase that here, but rather wait for a melt-off, and then trade to trend-maintaining sectors like steel, retail, and semis short squeezes. Chase any SPX breakout move here you prosper shortly and then get your head cut off, so play accordingly. There are two reversals baked in by the ponzi here, one is chasers of a seeming breakout which fails, the other is to short it down, it will be a failed consolidation channel bust that is reversed on a short squeeze to revisit the SPX conolidation range top. In general entering prime earnings season, which is usually a ponzi stabilization mechanism to prevent downside, I would day trade only, anything that flatlines here is a prime candidate for straddles, or if you miss something delta neutral you can always play any gap - my perennial favorite on shortside RIMM was a good example today, downtrend, baked-in corporate adherence but diminishing margins (dumb money chased this yesterday AH for a great fade). Too busy lately to post much but hope all is well.
