FORECAST 2014

Miner investors
Once again all of the crystal ball readers get set for the new year. Right now if you're forecasting you have not made one wrong prediction so you can claim perfection, at least until the end of the next year. At this time I can single out several of the prognosticators for special recognition. Jim Rogers for one has been very accurate with his analysis on the equity market and precious metal market. He has stated over the past couple of years that he was very reluctant to add to his gold holdings and felt the Fed could keep the bull equity market going as long as they were willing to counterfeit fiat. He has reiterated his outlook that resources are in a secular bull market and that holding commodities will ultimately pay rewards.

Jim Rickards also has been very accurate on predicting the assault on the precious metals for some time. He has recently turned more positive on this sector but also adds that miners are under the control of bankers and can short term still have difficulty. Rickard's sources remain inside the system and he has a proven track record in this sector.

I know that many investors in this sector have been decimated and many that have held on will be quick to exit their positions once the miners move up to initial resistance levels, which can result in this sector being a very profitable trading sector for those quick enough and watching these profit taking areas. I have not been trading these moves with any large volume and have instead elected to ride the bulk of my positions down. You are welcome to criticize this and I might join you, but as I've said throughout the miner sector slaughter during the past 18 months, I was finished trading them and would take my punishment and hold on.  Many of you, I believe, now see, as I have repeatedly stated, how powerful the cartel is, and some of you assume they can even manipulate Nature's forces ultimately. They cannot, and they know that. I'm not surprised by the sentiment capitulation in the miner trade, but I am surprised by how many retail traders have not been accumulating miners at these levels. I understand many of the hedge funds not buying, since they are only momo boyz and will not move until the insiders are positioned and have made the bottom obvious. The low in gold was set in mid 2012 and has held. We've made a double bottom and still could see a final weekly candlestick low, but the loss of bullion to the East is extreme so I wouldn't want to be short if that is wrong.

The objective factors that no one denies now is the massive flow of gold bullion to the East. If you deny that, then you are truly delusional and have no intellectual honesty. This IS the key for anyone understanding the ultimate destiny of the REAL price of precious metals. The dumb retail money (and hedges/money managers) own virtually NO physical metal and there only exposure is in paper gold products designed to fleece them and ultimately provide a control mechanism for spot and futures gold price. Don't join the crowd at these levels.....again this is directed at physical gold. Buying miners here is for those with excess liquidity only ie. THOSE that can AFFORD to lose their money....ie ME.... and the Jim Sinclairs, Jim Rogers etc.

I have been amazed by the subterfuge the Central Banks have been able to get by with this year and 2014 may start off the same. The boyz are coming back from their vacations in South Africa and South America and will resume trading in one week. Then the action will begin. I enjoy monitoring this historical time, but I know many of you are in pain and don't find this sector collapse as interesting as I. More and more people I am coming in contact with now seem to be aware that the system is broken and I am impressed by how resolute they are in their preparation. Many of these people have no idea what my stance is and offer their opinions readily. That is a marked change from the past 6 years. Best wishes to all of you next year. No doom and gloom here, only reality, and I won't put my head into that ostrich hole, but you are more than welcome to......just remember what is exposed above ground. GL

  5. What I don't understand is how there can be hyperinflation when there is no velocity of money.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sister M1V (M1 Velocity) appears to have stopped going down. Many expected inflation with the FED printing the last 5 years, but as derivatives drained off (mark to model (fantasy) changed to mark to market and this destroyed fiat currency) it decreased the amount of M1 at a higher rate than the FED was printing. This showed up as a decrease in velocity. If derivatives (appears to be the se in the US and not in Europe yet) are indeed now manageable then expect velocity to turn up and inflation to increase as M1 increases at a high rate.

  25. yes tom its very noticeable in my area. the initial wave of restaraunt closings in 08-09 was followed by a slight rebound in attendance at the surviving "better shops".......but very few "new openings".....and the attendance at many chain shops are starting to fade during the last few months. I think a lot of hopium but not much "meat" is the real story for disposable eating. So the massive money printing helped I BELIEVE to stave off a collapse of CONfidence but reality is a bitch and nature will not be denied. I, myself will pretend and practice self delusion and hopium.........but simultaneously I continue to prepare. I am a procrastinator and the time I believe we have bought has allowed me the luxury of becoming very prepared. Of course if its a true SHTF then all of us will find we are not prepared.....with the exception of Red and maybe Sheeps.......Sheeps is too near ground zero though and will need help.

  60. Tom, you keep posting these articles about Fukushima, and for some reason, you have bought into the hoax that there was a nuclear disaster there. It's nothing more than cooked-up hysterics by the anti-nuclear crowd and other doomers looking for the next manufactured piece of bad news.

There's no event. Nothing really happened at Fukushima: no one died, no one was injured, nothing was polluted by radiation, nothing besides the reactors themselves were even damaged. There was basically no disaster or news story at all.

Again, there was no nuclear disaster at Fukushima. At all. Nothing of consequence happened. There was no one hurt and there will be no one hurt. The only disaster was the mega-quake that killed as many as 20,000 people, left tens of thousands more homeless, and destroyed whole towns and villages.

If you want to know more about what a nuclear disaster looks like, just go ahead and refresh your memory about Chernobyl.

I tell you, living life as a tin-foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist cannot be good thing. It's really unfortunate that what appear to be a lot of smart people have been taken in by this domestic doomer movement that sprouted out following the 2008 crisis, and they'll believe anything as long as it confirms to their biases. If you present them with evidence and proof to the contrary, it will be summarily dismissed as lies and various evil entities misleading the public. 68. Tom, let me ask you something. If Fukushima was truly a disaster of monumental proportions, a potential extinction level event, do you really think they would allow any details to leak out from these alternative sources? The websites would be shut down and their operators would be in jail or disappear all together. There would be collusion at the highest levels to keep the secret, while they figure out how to deal with the problem. Instead, a quick google search returns tons of articles from these dubious sources for everyone to see. You're free to believe whatever you want, but don't give into this fear-mongering and enjoy your life.

  71. I have not read any articles about Fukushima causing an actual "Human Extinction". So, if those articles are out there, then that would seem far fetched.
But Bud, many articles are describing Fukushima as worse than Chernobyl, and it doesn't seem that the Japanese have control of Fukushima yet.

    1. Thanks Doc. That's what I was asking him--to Please post links to evidence that "nothing really happened" at Fukushima. And I did mean credible sources.

    2. Doc,

Bud used the term “mass extinction” as a means to diminish what is really happening, which we all know really happened. When you hear that term you think in terms of years or something instantaneous but this will not be measured in years, the effects will be measured in generations.

The site is still too hot for human intervention at present, it is leaking contaminated water into the Pacific, contaminated steam into the atmosphere and they have no means of stopping it currently. That does not bode well for a Country that is dependent on the sea for its sustenance.

Now you’re in medicine and you are well aware of the short and long term effects of large doses of radiation on carbon based life forms, they don’t mix well, if they did why would x-ray techs need to leave the room and there would be no need for the old lead apron.

Why post links because it’s history in the making and it will not have a good outcome, it can’t, if you put a minute of thought into what is truly going on you have only to think of the effects this is having on the food chain!

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_chain

Sooner or later it will show up on our plates and if you do a little research there has been way too many “die offs” in lower species that live off the food chain in the Pacific and that is not fantasy, look it you yourself. The “mass extinction” Bud references in jest will start lower on the food chain and by the time it is realized it may be too late…....

Never mind the direct affects this I having on the Japanese population now and will for generations to come and it is heading our way…..

      Coincidence?

      http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2014/01/warning-us-govt-orders-14-million-doses-of-potassium-iodide-video-2862450.html

In any event it saddens me that we as a species are this arrogant to think that some of our behavior does not come with consequences and when those consequences arise as is the case in Japan and the BP spill, coin and profit is always put before anything else……

If you have a family how can you not feel this way?

Lastly, as a reminder, Matt Drudge at one time ran just another conspiracy Web-Site, much to the chagrin of a certain President…. hehehehe

    2. Your sarcasm cracks me up KLI. :) But I'm not making any moves. This "recovery" has been one big band-aid after the next. And they are running out of band-aids.

The reason I asked Bud for his opinion is because... dang... he's been right this whole time. I'm just wondering if Bud thinks they can keep this Kabuki theater going for 30 more years. I've got retirement accounts.

    4. Bud's DOES need to reprint his advice Jay and he needs to be very clear RIGHT NOW.....and prospectively and with his timeline......AND you should follow it with your retirement accounts. I think if I were going to follow someone's advice on retirement accounts I would probably follow someone that has an IQ about 50pts above bud and has ALSO been right for MUCH longer than budfox and that is Immred......HE WAS correct on the miner trade three years ago and said get the hell out...Joe was also dead right over 2 years ago.....bud got in it late and had his ass smacked and got out later in 2012......and that was the correct move based on price......but bud HAS NOT bought physical as Joe and red have and he WILL NOT buy physical......he says he will but he's lying.......He does add an element of diversion that I leave here to see the reaction of the posters here for my own sentiment measures, and for my entertainment...........IF you think you can swim in the water they've prepared for you then by all means swim .....that's what its there for.....you know when they tell you to get out that you should be able to get out in time......right...they will give you a warning? You know jay like the did for MF Global.....or Cyprus....They're just warming up to toast us Jay.......this is game and its a "real game" and you're the pieces in the game.........they have their tentacles around you and their injecting their digestive enzymes into you and you're starting to feel warm......of course I'm just "joking" so relax and enjoy the game.

  78. No doubt the demand is still there despite price movements. Look at spot premium at places... 10-20% at least. They couldn't charge that if nobody was buying.

  79. Ugh GDX tagged the lows from June exactly but did not break through. May be dumping SLV calls to wait for a pullback. Can't believe this run is already ending though damn.

  84. I'll wait for a new post to answer Jay's questions and other stuff. This one has too many comments. Had a good day today, hung out with some old friends and colleagues I hadn't seen in a while. Lots of good, insightful discussion about financial planning and strategies, away from all the ZH and KWN nonsense. The one thing to keep in mind Jay is to not be distracted by all the doom and gloom talk.

Inlet, it was nice not to see anything from you for a while, but alas, like a turd that cannot be flushed, you are back. Oh well...

  86. Tom, not this "Billionaires Are Dumping Stocks" crap again. Jay or anyone else can figure out this scam by doing a quick internet search, but let me briefly explain it.

The article has been around for at least a couple of years. It gets recycled every 3 months or so and is usually found under the sponsored links section of many websites. When you click it, you are either taken to Newsmax or Moneynews where they try to sell you a book named "Aftershock: Finding fortune in marketing doom" by Wiedemer brothers to "help you profit from the upcoming catastrophic collapse". In other words, thru hyperbole and fear-mongering, they hope to sucker enough people into buying a book.

Tom, when Inlet posts bogus, misleading articles, I give him a pass because he's a mentally insane man with no cognitive function. I clean up his mess and move on. I thought you were smarter than this to be taken in by a worthless article and then keep posting it here.
